The interface is a little messy, but I feel like that only matters when you're in the process of getting used to it at first. I don't have a tremendous amount of experience with that DAW, but if I was doing primarily scoring, that'd be the one I'd probably go with. The DAW really bogged down quickly, especially using complex reverbs like MIR Pro and whatnot.įor scoring, I know a lot of people like Cubase. Most of mine are either Kontakt-based libraries or the Vienna Symphonic libraries, and I experienced the same thing back when I used a Macbook and Logic. I do a fair bit of work with digital orchestration as well. And Linux is just way too much wrestling with technical minutiae and not enough 'just works.'

Very sad and frightening to be losing 'pro' OSX, especially since Windows is incredibly intrusive and restarts for updates outside your control. From like 1994 - 2011 they were great, but since then they seem to be becoming less of a pro technology company and more of a mobile phone company. Updates are usually fine under Clover but I always check the forums first.Īs much as it pains me to say it, it seems to me that Apple is putting less and less energy into pro stuff over time. Tl dr It's time for the Audio Engineering community to stop circle jerking Apple products like it is better than a PC for engineering, which is totally false. Also it can run MacOS if you really want. And if you say that you prefer the software, is that worth paying more for years old components? And then buying a whole new computer any time one little thing goes bad? A PC is modular. I constantly hear people saying Macs are better for Audio Engineering-if you think paying more money for weaker components is better for hardware intensive activities like audio engineering, then okay. Not sure why so many audio engineers say Mac is the only way. I think this generation's apple products show us why we shouldn't support them right now. Return the Macbook and build a PC so that it does what YOU want it to do, not what APPLE wants it to do. As someone who owns a MacBook Pro and a desktop self-built PC, I have a couple thoughts, and I'll prob be down voted for them :(
